Meditation resides at the heart of all true spiritual pursuits.
Meditation is the practice of finding the true self, the realization of what always existed.
The Still Point Meditation
Each week, on Wednesdays, under the auspices of Mercury, you can find Des heading up a group meditation at Wave & See: Creative Sanctuary from 7:30-8:30pm. All offerings in this space operate on a sliding-scale donation owing to the organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Whether you’ve never meditated before or are looking to continue expanding your current practice, this weekly meeting stands to meet you precisely where you are. Opportunities for spaciousness are woven into a lightly guided meditation, creating a thoughtfully curated experience designed for universal access.
Come experience the magic of this space and take part in community in a way that helps you feel supported on the incredible path of unearthing the greatest spiritual truths residing within.
Why we meditate
Know thyself, the old hermetic axiom goes. Found inscribed on the Temple to Apollo at Delphi, there is a natural correlation between inward searching and the discovery of innate light. Perhaps this is why we call some spiritual practitioners “illuminated” or “enlightened”.
To reduce meditation to mere mindfulness would be a fundamental misunderstanding of what such practices truly offer us as seekers. Though meditation is a powerful force for downregulation, it also serves as the absolute bedrock for any stable and directed spiritual exploit. We meditate because our thoughts actively participate in creating the reality we inhabit. Knowing this, there is an immense need to cultivate this stillness within the self, that we might empower the self to more gracefully navigate the difficulties life is sure to bring.
Suffering is a precondition for the human experience. Meditation lends us the space to acknowledge the transience of this state and develop a single point of focus. This ability to direct thoughts allows us to participate in the co-creation of our external environment, rather than standing on the sidelines.

Guided Meditations
These meditations are offered as a free resource to anyone actively seeking to explore more of what a committed meditation practice has to offer them. Utilize these recordings as a means of deepening and expanding the work you’re already doing, or simply as a way of seeing the particular approaches we implement here at Heretic’s Codex. Whether just beginning your meditative journey or a lifelong meditator, you’re sure to discover value in each of these. Varied durations have been provided for whatever your needs may be, with new recordings being added regularly.
Should you wish to discover more and connect with other practitioners, consider joining us Wednesday evenings at Wave & See from 7:30–8:30. This hour-long experience follows a similar trajectory to what you’ll encounter here on this page, but the opportunity to practice with others is an exceptionally precious thing.
